Now more than ever it is vital that parents give their teenage children a practical financial education. Chances are social security and pensions will not be around when your teenager retires so you must prepare them to be financially responsible at a young age. Public high schools have been teaching similar subjects for the last 50 years and financial education is not one of them. Of course additional financial lessons need to be taught to help them handle their money; however helping your teen to have a good head on their shoulders is the critical first step.
